Where it began...

Chef Ryan Swift ... AKA (Chef Swift), owner of Dood & Frink, has always had such a passion for food and drink, and crafting unforgettable memories, with years of experience working as a Chef and Hospitality expert, starting at 16 coming from his family run chain of restaurants and business, and progressing to work in Michelin recognised restaurants alongside credible chefs such as Mitch Tonks and Elly Wentworth, as well as having a history of working in a catering events company, cooking for celebrities like the Beckhams at camp kerela Glastonbury festival and Isle Of Wight.

Every stage in his career working as a Chef in such dynamic settings inspired him to build a business of his own, designed to cater for, and plan, events such as weddings, birthdays, corporate functions, and fine dining private events. Not only did he master the art of cooking in Michelin settings, but he also found a genuine passion for mentoring aspiring Chefs who are as driven as he is in the industry, and creating meaningful experiences for guests every day.

This is where the idea for 'Dood & Frink' was born, with the intention of combining his love for hospitality with a vision to craft memorable events that last a lifetime, alongside a team of ambitious, like-minded workers And not to be just an average catering company but an EVENT EXPERIENCE.

From Devon Kitchen to Full-Service Event Company

In the early days of Dood & Frink, these events started off straight from his home kitchen in The English Riviera, where he prepped food for all events and went to his new clients' spaces to create his pop up restaurant theme events. As time went on, more connections were being made with clients, and Dood & Frink started to grow bigger and became a name more widely recognised in Torbay then into the rest of Devon and beyond. The tables of 6 turned into banquets of 30 and then into weddings for 200+, over the years compiled an arrangement of events from restaurant takeovers or gala style events with full event management and 20+ staff members by his side with also a key focus of the intimate private dining events and even featuring on the BBC program, 'Unbreakable', cooking for 12 celebrities, it was becoming something even better than Ryan had ever imagined.

Alongside crafting the perfect menu for your event, we pride ourselves on our ability to go above and beyond to style your occasion with decor, tablescapes, lighting, music, and even offer an optional media package, which includes a reel and photos from the day.

Making each event your own

Dood & Frink's mission is to redefine the experience of any event to make it unique to the client and reflect their personality, interests, and originality throughout the planning process. The 'perfect event' can be a completely different idea to everyone, and this has been clearly reflected through previous events since the beginning. From fairytale barn weddings, outstanding marquee set ups, and 10-course tasting menus, to Al Fresco catering over an open fire in the woods, there isn't a single vision that we can't create.

Rooted in Devon

Ryan, having grown up in Torquay, has been a grounding root for Dood & Frink, being based in the county which attracts many people down for weddings because of the beautiful scenery Devon has to offer. By being home to many spectacular venues and working with local suppliers, Dood & Frink can design events that reflect their surroundings just on their doorstep. There are plans to branch out across the UK and even venture abroad, but Torbay and Devon will always be the home ground for the business.
